WOMEN, AC MILAN v COMO: MATCH PREVIEW

The Rossonere return to the pitch: all the information on the game against the newly-promoted Lombardy side

After a long break for the national teams - and the success in the Coppa Italia against Ternana - Maurizio Ganz's AC Milan women's team resumes the league, which sees the visit of fresh-to-the-scene Como. A match that must be won, to put behind the defeat suffered in Pomigliano and turn the tide; a challenge that we present with our Match Preview.

LATEST FROM PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
Against Como, the Rossoneri start a four-game streak that will close out football in 2022: the fixture against Como will be followed by the big matches against Fiorentina and Roma, as well as the tricky away match against Sassuolo. Four matches that will help to determine the table, especially in terms of the first phase, with AC Milan who want to find more continuity in terms of results, to secure a place among the top five (who will access the Poule Scudetto) and put themselves up against the leaders. Against the newly-promoted Lombardy team, among other things, will be the occasion for a return to the PUMA House of Football where the Rossoneri have not played since last October 1, the day of the 2-1 victory over Sampdoria. There will be one important absence, that of the disqualified Christy Grimshaw.

Here is Coach Ganz's squad for the match: Babb, Fedele, Giuliani; Árnadóttir, Carage, Fusetti, Mesjasz, Soffia, Thrige, Tucceri Cimini; Adami, K. Dubcová, Mascarello, Vigilucci; Asllani, Bergamaschi, M. Dubcová, Piemonte, Thomas.

To present the match against the girls from Como is, in the Rossoneri house, Małgorzata "Gosia" Mesjasz: "I am very proud and happy to be here and to play for a team like AC Milan. Against Como it will be a very difficult challenge. Playing after the international break we had little time to prepare all together, but we will play at home and we want to take the three points. But we know it won't be easy".

LATEST FROM COMO
After a brilliant promotion to Serie A, achieved last season at the end of a thrilling duel with Brescia, Como are experiencing their first year in the top flight with five points gained in the first few matches. These results are the result of the wide success against Parma and the draws against Pomigliano (the only point collected so far on the road) and Sassuolo, a point grabbed at the end of the last round. The women from Como have never kept a clean sheet this season but, except for the opener against Juventus, they have also performed well in defeats, losing by a narrow margin (and away) against the more highly-rated Fiorentina and Roma. Como also features former Rossoneri players Mária Korenčiová and Nina Stapelfeldt, who were not involved in the last league match.

"In Milan it will be a very complicated match," Como defender Chiara Bianchi told the club's thematic channels in recent days. "Also because the Rossoneri are coming from a series of difficult results. In between there have been two weeks off for the national teams, so the coach has not had many members of the team available".

PRE-MATCH
It will be the first ever meeting between Milan and Como in Serie A, with the match between the Rossoneri and the Como women's team being the 43rd unique challenge between teams from Lombardy in the top flight, of the matches played in the third millennium. A match, at the PUMA House of Football, which also pits the top two teams in the league for aerial duels won over the first eight matchdays (Milan 75, Como 72). The Rossoneri have won their last nine league games against newly-promoted teams, with an average of four goals scored per match. Ganz's side have also scored for 10 home Serie A matches and have a favourable tradition in matches played on Sundays: five wins in the last seven with an impressive 20 goals scored in the opening half.
