ROSSONERE BEATEN IN AMOS CUP FINAL

Laurent's goal not enough as PSG win 2-1, despite AC Milan's good performance

It might have been a defeat but there were plenty of positives. The Rossoneri, after having beaten Atlético Madrid, lost to PSG in the Amos Cup final. AC Milan may have fallen to a 2-1 defeat but put in a brave performance at the Stade Michel Bendichou in Colomiers. Ganz's side showed courage and quality against a strong squad, who finished second in the league last year and reached the Champions League quarter-finals. Worthy of mention was Laurent's first goal for the Club, which unfortunately wasn't enough due to Baltimore's brace.

The Rossonere's pre-season preparation has now concluded with the tournament in France. We had various friendlies, both in Italy to get the motor running and then at international tournaments to really up the intensity. "It was a good test to grow and learn where we need to improve. We have a good feeling. We've improved in how we play." Off the back of Vigilucci's words, the Rossonere now return home to prepare for the start of Serie A 2023/24, which sees AC Milan host reigning champions Roma at the PUMA House of Football on the weekend of 16-17 September.

REPORT
PSG started strongly, and Baltimore looked like the difference-maker even early on. In the fifth minute, she went close to opening the scoring before Martens spurned an even greater opportunity, heading wide following a neat move down the right. The game was being played at breakneck speed but without much goalmouth action. That was until the 35th minute when Baltimore did open the scoring, converting on the rebound after Giuliani had made the save from Martens' effort. The reaction from the Rossonere was instant: Dompig's effort was saved, but not held, by Kiedrzynek, though Bergamaschi failed to hit the target (36'). Baltimore was in inspired form and put PSG two-nil up in the 42nd minute, turning home from a cross from the left. Half time.

The first chance of the second half fell to Bachmann, who tested Giuliani in the 53rd minute. Our team then went into their best spell of the match. The Rossonere pushed hard but were twice denied by stunning saves from substitute goalkeeper Picaud: from Cernoia's volley from range (56') and then Grimshaw from a corner (57'). The French side broke forward on the hour mark but Giuliani denied Bachmann again. The changes came, time wound on but the score didn't change. AC Milan looked the more likely of the two sides late in the match and the PSG 'keeper was called into action again in the 82nd minute, this team to deny Adami. Laurent did manage to halve the deficit, scoring a stunning free-kick in the 84th minute. The Rossonere were back into it but the game wound to a close with no further action until the final whistle.
