It was an international friendly for AC Milan Women, who, after the round robin against Nuremberg and Zurich, faced Glasgow Rangers in a friendly at Coccaglio. Suzanne Bakker, in her second year as Rossonere boss, was able to test new arrivals like Estévez Ogalla, De Sanders and Keijzer, added to a team without a lot of regular players who were in action at the EUROs or sidelined due to injury. The win was thanks to better clinical finishing from the Rossonere, as on the pitch, both sides were keeping hold of the ball.

The 4-0 win was largely thanks to making the most of Rangers errors in the first half, but the main goal was giving minutes and assessing players, including young players from the youth teams. Bakker rotated the team a lot, getting positive feedback ahead of our next games: Fiorentina in Tirrenia and Chelsea in London are our last tests before official games against Sassuolo and Genoa. It was a useful test to build fitness and team spirit ahead of the new season.

    MATCH REPORT
The start was rather balanced at the Cesare Guzzi Sports Centre in Coccaglio, with little to write home about at the start. AC Milan came close first in the 24th minute, with Appiah controlling the ball in the area, but sending it over the bar on the turn. In the 30th minute, the Rossonere got in front because of Cruft's own goal which caught out keeper Fife, making it 1-0. In the 45th minute, Dompig got down the left wing and crossed into the box, Renzotti's touch then turned into an assist for Ijeh, who tapped it home to make it 2-0. The Swedish attacker also had a big impact just a few minutes later: she made the most of a defensive error, hitting the post past the out-rushing keeper but converting the rebound to make it 3-0.

AC Milan kept pushing in the second period: there was a great chance in the 52nd minute with Mascarello and Ijeh's interplay, who then set up Renzotti, but her left-footed shot was saved by Fife. Shortly after, Mascarello shot over from the edge of the area. In the 66th minute, the Scottish side got forward: Tornaghi quickly reacted to Howat's effort. In the 77th minute, Dompig was held back on the edge of the box as she was bursting towards goal: Cesarini's resulting penalty hit the bar and went over. But in the 82nd minute, Paola Taddei made it 4-0: the young forward controlled the ball in the area, beating her marker with a great piece of dribbling and fired past Fife at the near post. Later on, Berry was denied a goal for an offside offence.
