The Rossonere are ready to take the pitch again against Roma on matchday 2 of the Women's Cup, the new official tournament that kicks off the 2025/26 season ahead of Serie A. After a defeat against Sassuolo, Coach Suzanne Bakker's side will be hoping to make a comeback and keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the Final Four, which is scheduled from 23 to 27 September at the Stadio Romeo Menti in Castellammare di Stabia. Today's opponents, as noted, are Roma, who kicked off the season on the right foot. Kick off at the Tre Fontane in Rome is scheduled for 15:00 CEST, but not before our customary match preview.

LATEST FROM THE PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
There are still plenty of players absent from the Rossonere, who played Chelsea last weekend in a prestigious friendly in London. In Italy, there's also been the defeat against Sassuolo on matchday 1 of the Women's Cup that the Rossonere will need to make a comeback from. However, Milan will have to do so without several of their players on the bench due to injury: Babb, Gemmi, and Stokić, but also Piga, Dompig, Park, Zanini, and Sorelli, who recently underwent surgery for a fractured fibula. The defence will need to be reshaped, but there will still be plenty of faith in a team that held their own against Chelsea for over an hour on Saturday. Leading the attack will be Evelyn Ijeh again, as she has consistently delivered throughout the pre-season.

"We are fully aware of what it takes to keep our chances of reaching the Final Four alive" Coach Bakker said on the eve of the match. "With that in mind, we will give all we can to achieve the result we need."

    LATEST FROM ROMA
After losing the Italian championship to Juventus after two consecutive titles, Roma underwent major changes over the summer, starting with the technical staff: Luca Rossettini, a former player for clubs including Cagliari and Genoa, took the place of Alessandro Spugna. Many players from the old guard have left the capital, including Linari, Giacinti, Ceasar, Glionna, Minami, and Troelsgaard, but the team's new rebuild has been entrusted to other long-standing figures such as Giugliano, Greggi, Haavi, Viens, Di Guglielmo, Pilgrim, and the returning Dragoni Valentina Bergamaschi, the ex Rossonera after a season at Juventus. The Giallorosse kicked off their season with a victory over Ternana in the Women's Cup and getting through two rounds successfully of the Women's Champions League.

    PRE-MATCH STATS

    • Milan is coming up to reaching 200 matches across all competitions (currently at 199 - 111W, 39D, 49L).
    • Milan recorded the highest possession percentage in the first round of the Serie A Women's Cup (73%); Roma is in third place at (66%), with Inter between the two teams at (72%).
    • Since Evelyn Ijeh has worn the Milan jersey (since the 2023/24 season), only Cristiana Girelli (six) has scored more goals against Roma across all competitions than the Rossonere forward (five goals, tied with Sofia Cantore) in six appearances, including one of her three braces for the Club, in the 3-3 draw on 4th May 2024.

WHERE TO WATCH AC MILAN ON TV
In Italy, Roma v AC Milan will be live on Vivo Azzurro TV. Don't miss our coverage on the Rossonere's official Instagram, on acmilan.com, and on the AC Milan Official App, where, from the day after, the whole match will be available on demand.

LATEST FROM SERIE A WOMEN'S CUP
Stefano Striamo from Salerno will referee the match at the Tre Fontane. He will be assisted by Domenico Lombardi and Matteo di Berardino, and Cataldo Zito as fourth official.

The second round of the Serie A Women's Cup kicks off with Roma v Milan, scheduled for Saturday 6 September at 15:00 CEST; later the same day, Inter will play Fiorentina at 18:00 CEST. Sunday will kick off with Napoli v Parma and Juventus v Lazio at 15:00 CEST, then Sassuolo v Ternana at 17:30 CEST, and Como v Genoa at 20:30 CEST.

Here are the current Group C rankings: Roma and Sassuolo 3; Milan and Ternana 0.
