A match that at first seemed to follow the same patterns as previous games, after two opening defeats in the Serie A Women's Cup, this time the Rossonere finished with relief and smiles. AC Milan beat Ternana Women 2-1 in their third fixture of the Women's Cup as they hosted Coach Cincotta's side. It was a familiar story, plenty of energy from the Rossonere but little to show for it as the first half came to an end 0-1 with Pirone's goal for the visitors. But the second half was a different story: AC Milan fought, refused to give in, and turned the match around. Var Dooren equalised, Appiah secured the winner, and the Rossonere claimed their first win of the tournament and their first goals of the season.
It was a day filled with firsts as Kayleigh van Dooren netted her first goal in AC Milan's colours, and Karen Appiah, fresh from her debut last week, scored her first goal for the senior team after rising through the Primavera ranks. It was a victory secured by the young players, who were able to carry the team when it mattered the most, with their freshness and confidence in the knowledge that hard work and talent rarely disappoint. Donolato and Strauss also made their debut, coming on late into the game for their first minutes in an official match. A positive result, both for the present and for the future, as the Rossonere look towards the Serie A opener on Sunday 5 October, away to a newly promoted Genoa side.

MATCH REPORT
In the first half at the Velodromo Attilio Pavesi in Fiorenzuola d'Arda, two shots from distance heated up the atmosphere in the opening 15 minutes, first from Regazzoli, then with Van Dooren, but both were off target. Renzotti also took a shot from the right flank, cutting inside and attempting a left-footed shot on goal, but the ball was just a little wide. In the 24th minute, the visitors broke the deadlock: on a cross from Regazzoli from the left, Pirone timed her run perfectly and headed the ball into the far post, even catching Laura Giuliani off guard. AC Milan pushed for a response, and in the 39th minute, Dompig, set up by Kyvåg, worked the ball into the box, but her shot ultimately missed the goal.
The second half started at a higher tempo. The first chance came from the visitors, again with Pirone, but ten minutes later the Rossonere finally responded, bringing the game back their way for three points. In the 58th minute, an attacking move led by Dompig ended with the ball out wide to Cesarini, who, from distance, aimed at goal, finding Van Dooren's finish. It was kept onside by a distracted Ternana defender. The equaliser was quickly followed by a second goal in less than ten minutes thanks to 2007-born Karen Appiah, who came on in the 66th minute in place of Dompig and in just one minute struck from outside the box with a precise left-footed finish making it 2-1. the final 20 minutes saw few clear chances; the Rossonere solidly defended, and De Sanders stood out at the heart of the defence as they secured their first victory of the season.
