The Serie A Women's season kicks off for the Rossonere, coached for the second consecutive season by Suzanne Bakker. After the introduction of the Women's Cup, won by Juventus, the season gets fully underway with the opening matchday, where our girls will face newly promoted Genoa. Alongside the introduction of the Football Video Support system, Serie A Women has abandoned the old format with two phases, returning to a single twelve-team league with a total of 22 matchdays played on a home-and-away basis. The Rossonere are eager to do well, starting with tomorrow's 15:00 CEST kick-off at the Sciorba Stadium in Genoa.

LATEST FROM THE PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
The Rossonere's recent Women's Cup campaign ended with two defeats and a win - against Ternana - with a string of injuries certainly not helping the team. Several players, including Piga, Cernoia and Mascarello, have now returned and are available to Bakker, while others will still be sidelined for this league opener. Long-term absentees Babb, Zanini, Stokić and Sorelli remain out as they continue their respective rehabilitation programmes. We can expect more squad rotation, with plenty of determination to get a positive result and start the new season on the right foot. Fans will also be eager to see the new signings in action, including Soo-Jeong Park, who is available to the coach for the first time.

"With this match", Suzanne Bakker said, "we'll be part of a beautiful, historic moment for our opponent, but it's clear that we have only one goal today: to take the first three points of the league back to Milan. We're ready, we're committed and we're incredibly eager to immediately show what we want to achieve this season".

    LATEST FROM GENOA
Newly promoted to Serie A, Genoa arrive at the start of the season with high ambitions and a competitive squad, primarily aiming to stay in the top flight. In the dugout is former Como Women and Fiorentina coach De La Fuente, while the club's entire women's sector is led by Marta Carissimi, a former Rossonere midfielder. Also with ties to AC Milan are Valery Vigilucci, a defender who moved to Genoa from the Rossonere this summer, and Mária Korenčiová, a goalkeeper who played between our sticks in the early years of our women's team. In the Women's Cup, Genoa suffered two defeats (against Inter and Fiorentina) and drew with Como. Di Bari is out, but captain Abate returns to the squad.

    PRE-MATCH STATS

    • In Serie A last season, no team scored a higher percentage of goals from set-pieces than AC Milan: 33% (the same as Fiorentina and Napoli) - 14 out of 42 goals.
    • In the recently concluded Serie A Women’s Cup, Karen Appiah (born in 2007) was, alongside Giulia Galli (born in 2008), one of the two youngest players to score at least one goal (one each).
    • Of AC Milan's four long-range goals in last season's Serie A, three were scored by Giorgia Arrigoni. Only Gina Chmielinski (six) and Manuela Giugliano (four) scored more from outside the area than Arrigoni in the league in 2024/25 (with Nadine Nischler and Lana Clelland also scoring three each).

WHERE TO WATCH AC MILAN ON TV
In Italy, Genoa v AC Milan will be live on DAZN. Don't miss our coverage on the Rossonere's official Instagram, on acmilan.com, and on the AC Milan Official App, where, from the day after, the whole match will be available on demand.

    LATEST FROM SERIE A WOMEN
Deborah Bianchi will referee the match at the Sciorba Stadium. She will be assisted by Vincenzo D'Ambrosio Giordano and Paolo Cufari, with Duccio Mancini as fourth official and Roberto Meraviglia operating the FVS system.

The new feature is the introduction of Football Video Support, which, according to the FIGC website, "will allow the referee, at the request of the coaches of either team through a conventional signal and the handing of a card to the fourth official, to review a specific game situation on the monitor. Four types of situations can be reviewed: goal decisions, penalty decisions, direct red cards, and possible cases of mistaken identity. In the Serie A Women Athora league, the referee will also review every goal on the monitor before play resumes."

On matchday 1 in the Serie A Women's division, four matches will be played on Saturday: Roma v Parma, Inter v Ternana, Napoli v Fiorentina and Sassuolo v Juventus. Two games are scheduled on Sunday: Como Women v Lazio (12:30 CEST) and Genoa v AC Milan (15:00 CEST).
