GRIMSHAW-APPIAH, AC MILAN BOUNCE BACK: NAPOLI DEFEATED 2-0

The captain opens the scoring, the 18-year-old seals the win: the Rossonere return to the Champions League spots

The Women's First Team couldn't have started the month in better fashion, as they beat Napoli Women 0-2 away from home and put themselves back in the Champions League spots, currently in second place, awaiting the result of Roma v Juventus. Two goals in the second half from Christy Grimshaw and Karen Appiah secured the win on matchday eight. For the Scot, back from a long injury, this marks her first goal since February 2024. It was also Appiah's first Serie A goal this season, and second in total (following her goal against Ternana Women in the Women's Cup).

After a balanced first half - during which Ijeh hit the post - Bakker's side grew as the game went on in the second half, also thanks to Park's great contribution off the bench. It's also important to point out that this is the Rossonere's first clean-sheet of the season, coming as a result of a structured and concrete performance. A big win which helps us move up the table following the match between Como Women and Sassuolo, and begins the week of the Derby, on Saturday at 15:00 CET, in the best way. Well done, girls!

MATCH REPORT
Both sides alternated possession of the ball in the first half and it was the Rossonere who had the better chances to go ahead, as they tried to create but lacked precision in the final third. The first concrete chance - the best of the half - came in the 23rd minute, when Kyvåg's cross was headed onto the post by Ijeh, past Beretta. In the final 15 minutes of the half, the Partenopee pushed forward but their only chance came through Jusjong, which didn't trouble Giuliani.

The second half began with an attempt from Van Dooren, who put her shot wide after latching onto Grimshaw's pass in the 48th minute. The home side responded with Fløe in the 52nd minute but the chance was missed thanks to a slight deflection. Mascarello had a chance from a free-kick in the 63rd minute, but Beretta tipped it over the bar. AC Milan's efforts were rewarded in the 65th minute, when Park played in Grimshaw who put her chance away. The opposition's reaction was not vehement, and in the 77th minute an FVS check meant that a red card (initially decided by the referee) was not given to Soffia leaving the match 11 against 11. AC Milan sealed the win in stoppage time: Park launched a counter-attack and played in Appiah who made no mistake in front of Beretta, to make it 0-2
