Yet another goalfest just days after the big win over Parma: the victims this time were Spezia in the second round of the Primavera Coppa Italia as Federico Giunti’s boys won 5-1, securing qualification for the round of 16 in the competition. This made it eleven goals in two games, along with a big return as Daniel Maldini was back in the starting XI after a month out injured (his last game was on 14 September against Spezia in the league). Back against the same side, it was a smooth transition as Maldini scored a first-half brace to put himself right back in the midst of it all. The game then opened up for the Rossoneri as they added three more after the break through Olzer, Brescianini (a wondergoal) and Pecorino. After wins against Sampdoria and Spezia, the Rossoneri’s next opponents in the Primavera TIM Cup will be Torino, with the round of 16 match scheduled for 18 December. Meanwhile, Saturday afternoon will see Milan back on the pitch in Ferrara, where they’ll face SPAL at 14:30 CET as they look to keep this positive run going.

MATCH REPORT
It was a first half where the Rossoneri left their mark. After an initial period where both sides looked to figure each another out, Daniel Maldini, who was back in the starting eleven, gave AC Milan the lead with a fantastic free kick in the 31st minute. Three minutes later, AC Milan’s number ten scored his second, converting a penalty awarded for a foul on Riccardo Tonin. But Spezia weren’t about to give up and they equalised two minutes before half-time through Marianelli’s spot-kick after Potop had been penalised in the box. After the restart, Giunti shook things up, bringing on Brescianini, Olzer and Pecorino. And two of these substitutes threatened immediately after coming on as an outrushing Desjardins denied Brescianini following Pecorino’s cross. However, the Diavolo did extend their advantage with 71 minutes on the clock: Brescianini hit the bar, but Olzer was on hand to fire in from close range to make it 3-1. After 75 minutes, the Spezia goalkeeper kept out Haidara’s effort at his near post after some great individual play by the Rossoneri man. In the 87th minute, Brescianini showed quick feet and then scored AC Milan’s fourth with a lovely dinked finish. A fantastic goal. In stoppage time, Moleri produced two fine stops before Pecorino finished off Frigerio’s assist on the counter. 5-1 the final scoreline.
