FANTASTIC ROSSONERE: ROMA BEATEN, IT'S THE PRIMAVERA FINAL

Superb performance by Zago's girls at Viola Park, beating the reigning champions 4-1

What an achievement, what a wonder. For the first time in history, AC Milan will play in the Final of the Women's Primavera championship, and they do so thanks to an unforgettable match. The Rossonere defeated the reigning champions Roma 4-1, winners of the last four championships and unbeatable obstacles in the Semifinals of 2022 and 2023. Not in 2024, though, because we dominated the game thanks to a sparkling first-half performance with goals from Longobardi, Appiah, and Stokić. The victory was sealed with an authoritative and determined second half, strengthened by numerical superiority and a fourth goal scored by Renzotti.

Never have the Rossonere, in the first three seasons of the Women's Primavera, managed to get past the strong Giallorosse. There couldn't have been a better first time for Mister Zago's girls, achieving a result as important as it was deserved. A victory that opens the doors to a Scudetto showdown against one of Inter or Sassuolo on Saturday 11 May at 16:30 CEST (live on the FIGC women's YouTube channel), with the determination to surpass ourselves and fulfil a dream. Forza Ragazze!

MATCH REPORT
A high tempo from the start, with the Rossonere in the spotlight. In the seventh minute, Stokić hit narrowly over after a beautiful pass through the middle by Arrigoni. On 10', we deservedly took the lead. Appiah won the ball back high up the pitch and played in Longobardi who beat Merolla in the 6-yard box. Roma reacted and equalised with a penalty awarded on 14' due to Tornaghi's foul on Ventriglia. Ventriglia converted it herself. The Rossonere hit back immediately, as less than a minute later, they made it 2-1. Appiah with a solo effort, sprinted past Pieri and beat Merolla with a powerful right-footed shot. AC Milan were dominating. At 34', the Giallorosse goalkeeper denied Renzotti, while at 37', Roma were reduced to 10 after Testa was shown a red card for stopping Stokić's run towards goal. The third Rossonere goal comes from the resulting free-kick with Stokić curling in a gem from the edge of the box.

Stokić once again took the spotlight with the first chance of the second half, but Merolla responded well to deny her. With Milan in numerical superiority, the second half was played at a lower tempo. On 64', Merolla reacted quickly to deny Longobardi's attempt in the box, however, two minutes later, the Rossonere scored their fourth goal with an individual effort from Renzotti, who scored with a powerful low shot from outside the box. We kept pushing forward, with Appiah almost hitting the top corner with a curling right-footed shot on 69'. Towards the end, Appiah twice came close to scoring her second goal but was denied by the opposing goalkeeper on both occasions. It didn't matter much, as the final whistle blew on a splendid 4-1 victory for us!
