THE PRIMAVERA RUN RIOT: LONTANI TREBLE IN 7-2 WIN V CESENA

A dominant performance by Renna's Rossoneri making it six games unbeaten

A brilliant result, a high level performance and a sixth game unbeaten for Coach Giovanni Renna's Primavera side. Before today's match, Cesena were third in the league and had only conceded eight goals in eight matches. The Cesena-born Simone Lontani was simply unstoppable, on the eve of his departure (alongside Pandolgi and Longoni) for the Under 17 World Cup, as he scored a hat-trick, bringing his tally for the season to six and making him the current top scorer in the league. The other goals were scored by Ossola, Mancioppi and Castiello, while Ribello scored an own goal. The win brings the team up to 15 points and just one point off of the play-off zone, and three points off of top spot, as things stand.

The only negative from the match was the unfortunately injury to Simon La Mantia, whose match lasted just three minutes. The player suffered a problem with his knee and his condition will be evaluated in the hope that it is not as bad as first feared. The Rossoneri dominated throughout, but gave Cesena a bit of confidence when they pulled one back to make it 3-1. Aside from that, there were lots of chances, slick attacking moves and lots of enthusiasm for a group that is slowly growing in confidence. The next match is on Sunday at 11:00 CET against Lazio at Formello.

MATCH REPORT
Soon after the start, AC Milan quickly dictated play by attacking and leaving little room for Cesena. In the 5th minute, Mancioppi replaced the injured La Mantia. The first real chance fell to Scotti who headed the ball too centrally following Nolli's cross. Lontani opened the scoring in the 18th minute, latching onto a loose ball after some great work from Scotti. Lontani then doubled the lead in the 26th minute, precisely directing his header into the corner of the goal. Before the break, it was 3-0 thanks to Ossola's precise finish as he was played through perfectly by Plazzotta. One minute later, Galvagno shortened the lead with a left-footed strike from distance.

The second half began in a balanced way, with Cesena trying to get back into the game and AC Milan trying to extend their lead. After just two minutes, Ossola hit the woodwork with an effort from the edge of the area. The Rossoneri couldn't extend their lead and Cesena grew in confidence, with Longoni proving very important in the 68th minute to deny Papa Wade. A huge save from Gianfanti, helped by the crossbar denied Perera in the 74th minute before the goalfest began: Lontani made it 4-1 in the 83rd minute, after great work from Scotti. The guests pushed forward and Mancioppi made it 5-1 on the counter in the 86th minute. Cesena shortened the lead with a goal from Galvagno, before the final two goals for the Rossoneri: a Ribello own-goal in the 89th minute and a powerful diagonal goal from Castiello in the 95th minute to make it 7-2
