AC MILAN DEFEAT EMPOLI: IT'S 4-1

At the Castellani Stadium Montella's boys take home three important points thanks to Lapadula's brace, Suso and an own goal. The Rossoneri are second

AC Milan take home three important points defeating Empoli 4-1 at the Castellani Stadium: stars of the match Gianluca Lapadula, who scored his first brace in Serie A, and Suso who is proving to be essential to Montella's team. The Rossoneri are now second in the league with 29 points, trailing Juve by 4 and three points clear Roma (both sides play on Sunday).

THE MATCH REPORT
Coach Montella makes some changes to the starting XI: Paletta, Kucka, Niang and Bacca (injured) are out for Romagnoli, Pasalic, Mati Fernandez and Lapadula. The boss confirms the 4-3-3 with Bonaventura and Suso on the wings supporting the red and black no.9 up front. The home team are off to a better start and go close to scoring with Maccarone. The Rossoneri react immediately and Suso is denied by Skorupski. On the 10' Mati Fernandez is off injured and Kucka replaces him in midfield. The Slovak midfielder finds Suso on the right who puts the ball into the box and Lapadula's effort finds the back of the net to make it 1-0. The hosts won't sit back and watch and immediately level the game with Saponara's shot from the edge of the area. It's the 17' and we're 1-1. The match is thrilling and AC Milan almost find the lead once again with the opportunities created by Suso and Abate. Empoli scare the red and blacks with Saponara whose volley from inside the box goes wide. On the 62' AC Milan find the 2-1 wih Suso, able to net a great ball in by Abate. Only a few minutes later it's 3-1 and this time it's an own goal by Costa to beat Skorupski, after a great solo run by Bonaventura. The home team can't react and the Rossoneri put the match to bed with Lapadula. Gianluca has scored his third goal in Seriea A giving AC Milan the 4-1.

Ignazio Abate: "I am happy for the performance, we have improved a lot because in the past we wouldn't have won matches like this. The team has shown their hunger and desire to win. We still have to work hard but tonight we proved something to ourseleves. We must continue this way".
