Pepe and Ivan have penned a contract through to 30 June 2021
Massimiliano Mirabelli has made the first new signings of the new season - Pepe Reina and Ivan Strinic - giving Rino Gattuso two experienced and quality players to count on. Here's the official statement.
AC Milan announces the signing of José Manuel Reina Páez and Ivan Strinic. The Spanish goalkeeper and the Croatian defender inked a three-year agreement expiring on June 30, 2021.
Pepe Reina is an experienced goalkeeper and was a valid opponent for AC Milan, especially in his spell at Liverpool. He was in the Reds starting XI in Athens when we won our memorable 7th Champions League and now he will be contributing to the Rossoneri's race for a European spot. A natural born winner, a true leader who did well in every team he played for: from Villarreal to Napoli. In Serie A he has already started in more than 100 games and his international experience speaks for itself. A man and player that can surely improve AC Milan and be of great help to Rino Gattuso.
Ivan Strinic is making a positive impression at the Russia 2018 World Cup, starting for an impressive Croatia. Left-back and left-footed, the 30-year old is 186cm tall and weighs 78kg, has in his physicality his strong point. After a 2017-18 made of ups and downs at Sampdoria, this new AC Milan adventure is an opportunity to bounce back. A solid player, always attentive in defence, Ivan has also good technique. The Rossoneri have therefore added another arrow to their quiver in defence, another left back along with Ricardo Rodriguez and Luca Antonelli.
Two important signings, who bring added value to the Rossoneri squad. Welcome, Pepe and Ivan!
