AC Milan lose to Juventus: Higuain misses a penalty
The stadium was abuzz with 74,729 excited fans cheering on, matchday 12 of the Serie A with AC Milan facing Juventus. Formation variation this time around with a standard 4-4-2 line-up and Higuain fully recovered for the game against his former team. After three consecutive wins, Gattuso and his boys were defeated by the Bianconeri with two goals (one for each half). Kick-off underway with the Rossoneri conceding an early goal from Mandzukic after just few minutes with a precise header. Higuain had a good chance in the 36’ to even the score but missed a VAR-awarded penalty: blocked by Szczesny. The second half saw another Juve goal by Ronaldo, which sealed the game definitively. The Rossoneri are currently in 5th place and just one point behind a Champions League spot. Now it is time for the international break, Coach Gattuso and his boys will resume training on Wednesday, 14th November, in preparation for the crucial away game against current 4th place holders, Lazio, in matchday 13 of the Serie A.
Formalities put aside, it is now time to get down to business. The game is underway with the Rossoneri starting from right to left on the pitch. Nice run by Bakayoko in the 6’, floored by Betancur: resulting free kick by Suso almost finds Higuain’s foot in the box. Juve immediately scores in the 8’ with a cross by Alex Sandro to find Mandzukic in the box: precise header. Gattuso’s boys try to react to the unexpected blow with Castillejo’s cross for Higuain: aerial block by Benatia. Dangerous cross in the 26’ by Cancelo for Mandzukic but his header is too central to bother Donnarumma. Suso tries a low-lying shot in the 33’: blocked by Szczesny. VAR decision in the 39’ after a hand ball by Benatia in the box, referee gives the penalty to the Rossoneri: Higuain’s penalty blocked by Szczesny. The boys go into the break with a goal down against the championship leaders. Second half kicks off with both teams inverted on the pitch. The Rossoneri start the second half by pressing high up the pitch but blocked out by the Juve defence. Dangerous free kick by Dybala in the 56’ that hits the woodwork and ends wide. Counter attack in the 68’ by Ronaldo who tries a shot: blocked by Donnarumma. Nice attempt by Rodriguez in the 76’ with a long distance shot: ends just wide of the bar. Juventus find their second goal in the 81’ thanks to Ronaldo from inside the box: initial shot by Cancelo blocked by Donnarumma. The game gradually rolls to an end after this second blow, Juventus take the win in matchday 12 of the Serie A.
