Nine figures with which to analyse the win away in Bergamo
AC Milan picked up an extraordinary win in Bergamo. It was vital not just because of the maturity that was on show, but also thanks to the three crucial points that send the Diavolo to within just one point of third. It was an intense match and we can relive it now with the following nine statistics:
- In all of the past 13 seasons (three points for a win) when Milan have claimed at least 42 points from 24 games, they have always finished in the top four by the end of the season.
- Milan hadn’t won in Serie A against Atalanta since May 2015, which was also by a 3-1 scoreline.
- Milan are one of the sides who have taken the most points from losing situations (13 - level with Juventus).
- The Rossoneri scored three goals from three shots on target in this match.
- Calhanoglu’s goal was Milan’s 50th this season in all competitions.
- Piatek’s goal was the first for Milan in Serie A from a corner since Bonucci’s goal in March 2018 against Juventus.
- Before Piatek, the last Milan player to score in his first three starts in Serie A was Mario Balotelli (February 2013)
- The Polish forward has scored a goal every 60 minutes in Serie A for Milan. With Genoa, he averaged a goal every 123 minutes.
- Hakan Calhanoglu scored for the first time this Serie A season after 60 attempts
