At AC Milan since:2015

Considered one of the greatest talents of his generation, the defender from Anzio, Lazio, and current captain of AC Milan, moved to Rome aged eight after growing up in the youth sector of his city team. He made his debut with the first team under the technical guidance of Zdeněk Zeman in the Coppa Italia against Atalanta. The following year, he made his Serie A debut in the Roma win 4-2 against AC Milan.

In the 2014/15 season, on loan to Sampdoria, he made 30 appearances and scored two goals. Strongly sought after by former AC Milan coach Siniša Mihajlović, in the summer of 2015 he moved to AC Milan, where, after just three years, he became the second youngest captain in Rossonero history, only behind the legend who goes by the name of Franco Baresi. With six seasons under his belt with the Rossoneri, he has made 221 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals.

His time with the Azzurri is also worth noting. Firstly, at youth level, he made 15 appearances and scored one goal with the Under-21s between 2014 and 2016, and then with the senior National Team: he made his debut on 6 October 2016 against Spain, with his first goals arriving in Autumn 2019 against Liechtenstein and Armenia during the last few Euro 2020 qualifiers.
