Diego Manuel Jadon da Silva Moreira was born on August 6, 2004, in Liège; he is the son of former Guinea-Bissau international Almami and the nephew of Helmut Graf, who played for Standard Liège during the 1970s and 80s. After coming up through the ranks at the aforementioned Belgian club, he completed his footballing development at Benfica, where he signed his first professional contract in 2020. In Lisbon, Moreira distinguished himself particularly at the youth level, becoming a key figure in the squad that won the UEFA Youth League in 2022 - defeating Juventus in the semi-finals along the way - as well as the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup. With Benfica, Diego also made his debut in both the Primeira Liga and the Champions League, coming on as a substitute late in the qualifying match against Midtjylland in August 2022. He changed clubs and countries in the summer of 2023 when Chelsea signed him, handing him his first-team debut that August in a Carabao Cup match against Wimbledon. That game was followed by a loan move to Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais, where he made nine appearances across the league and the Coupe de France through January 2024, showcasing his ability on the left flank.
A major turning point in his career arrived in August 2024 with his move to Strasbourg. In Alsace, Diego developed into a versatile player, racking up appearances, goals, and assists (76, 7, and 16, respectively) over two seasons and performing well in Europe, helping Strasbourg come close to reaching the Conference League final in 2026. He joined AC Milan in August 2026, scoring his first goals for the club during a comeback draw against Lazio. On the international stage, after a few appearances for Belgium's Under-15 team, he initially chose to represent Portugal. He rose through the Portuguese youth ranks all the way to the Under-21 level, even competing in the 2023 European Championship for that age group. However, in the spring of 2025, he chose to switch allegiance and represent his native Belgium; the Red Devils believed in him, and by September, he had already made his senior international debut during the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign and friendlies. He played a key role in the tournament, shining during Belgium's comeback victory over Senegal in the Round of 32 and sharing the dressing room with Alexis Saelemaekers and Koni De Winter, teammates he ultimately joined in Italy.
