Divock Origi was born in Ostenda on 18 April 1995. After taking his first steps in football at Genk, at the young age of 15 he moved to Lille in France. The striker didn’t take long to make his mark and made his Ligue 1 debut as a sub against Troyes, before his 18th birthday, scoring after only six minutes on the pitch.
His three seasons there contributed to a productive period for the French Club, with him contributing 14 goals in 73 appearances. He earned his first senior cap for Belgium, and got his first goal that clinched the 2014 World Cup group game against Russia at the age of only 19 years, two months and four days. His development and potential caught Liverpool's eye, and he arrived on Merseyside in the summer of 2015.
He stayed there for seven years – with a loan spell at Wolfsburg in the 2017/18 season – playing an important role in lifting the 2018/19 Champions League and the 2019/20 Premier League title (in total, he won six trophies with the Reds). His highlight in England most definitely came in the spring of 2019, where he grabbed a brace – the first of his Champions League career – in the infamous semi-final return leg against Barcelona; he then went on to score in the final against Tottenham, too. He now moves to AC Milan for a new adventure, looking once again to prove himself as an experienced forward and a winner.
