Born in Victoria de Durango in Mexico on 18 November 2004 to Argentine parents, Luka Romero began playing football in Spain, with Sant Jordi on the island of Ibiza. Having by now secured a Spanish passport, he joined Mallorca in 2015, where he would play for five years in their youth system. He made La Liga history in June 2020 when he became the youngest player ever to make their debut in the Spanish top flight at just 15 years and 219 days when he came on in the last five minutes of a game against Real Madrid.

He scored his first professional goal with Los Bermellones on 29 November 2020 against Logroñés to become the youngest goalscorer in the club's history. He moved to Italy in July 2021 when he joined Lazio. Furthermore, he made his first appearance for the capital city club on 28 August, coming on for the final minutes against Spezia, which made him the Biancocelesti's youngest-ever debutant in Serie A. After making nine appearances in 2021/22, he found himself with more play-time the following season, in which he made his first European appearance (against Midtjylland in the Europa League in September) and, more importantly, scored his first goal: a decisive winner against Monza at home. After making 21 appearances in two seasons for Sarri's side and featuring at the U20 World Cup for Argentina, he received the call from AC Milan.
