Pervis Josué Estupiñan Tenorio was born in Esmeraldas, Ecuador, on 21 January 1998. After his first steps at El Nacional, at the age of 11 he joined the LDU Quito academy, where he turned professional in 2015 and also gained game time in the Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana. In the summer of 2016 he was signed by Udinese, who immediately loaned him to Granada: in Spain, Pervis split his time between the first and second teams of the Andalusian club, making 23 appearances and scoring 2 goals overall. In 2017 he moved to Watford but stayed in Spain on three further loans - between 2017 and 2020 - at Almería, Mallorca and Osasuna, with whom he made his La Liga debut after two strong seasons in the second tier.

He took a clear step up from 2020/21, when Villarreal placed their trust in him: across two seasons he earned plenty of game time - 74 total appearances - and played a key role in the Europa League win in 2021 (he also played in the following European Super Cup against Chelsea) and in a 2021/22 Champions League campaign in which Emery's side reached the Semi-finals against Liverpool. England was in his destiny: in the summer of 2022 he joined Brighton, where he made 104 appearances (and scored 5 goals) for the Seagulls over three seasons before joining AC Milan, where he collected 22 appearances in his first season and a goal, a decisive one, in the derby against Inter. Also worth noting his journey with Ecuador: after representing the Under-17s and Under-20s, he made his senior debut in October 2019 and has since taken part in two World Cups (2022 and 2026) and the 2024 Copa América, with 53 caps and 4 goals overall with La Tricolor.
