Born in Lodi on 8 May 2000, Tonali developed his talents at Lombardia Uno, Piacenza and, from 2012, Brescia, where he made his professional debut in Serie B at the age of 17. While at the Rondinelle, he was key part of their promotion to Serie A, as well as during their 2019/20 campaign. In total, he scored seven goals in 89 appearances for Brescia, making him one of the most promising players in the Italian league.

A complete midfielder, he is technically blessed, physically imposing, and strong in character. He made his senior international debut on 19 October 2019 after previously playing for Italy’s Under-19 and Under-21 sides. Having joined the Rossoneri in the summer of 2020, he fulfilled a childhood dream. In his first season at AC Milan, he played 37 games between Serie A, Coppa Italia and the Europa League.
