Born in Lodi on 8 May 2000, Sandro Tonali developed as a footballer at Lombardia Uno, Piacenza and, from 2012, Brescia, where he made his professional debut in Serie B at the age of 17. He then achieved promotion to Serie A with the Lombardy side before enjoying a fantastic season in the Italian top flight in 2019/20. In total, he scored seven goals in 89 appearances for Brescia, establishing himself as one of the most promising youngsters in Italy in the process.

A complete midfielder, he possesses excellent technical and physical qualities and has great character. At international level, after wearing the U19 and U21 shirts, he made his senior Italy debut on 19 October 2019. He joined the Rossoneri in the summer of 2020, thus realizing a dream he had had since childhood. In his first season with AC Milan, he played 37 times in all competitions.

But it was in 2021/22 when Sandrino really started to shine. After signing on a permanent deal from Brescia, Tonali played a fundamental role in a season full of special moments. His stoppage-time goal against Lazio at the Olimpico and his brilliant brace against Hellas Verona at the Bentegodi were undoubtedly his standout contributions. In total, he found the net five times as Coach Pioli's team won the Scudetto. As of June 2022, he has made 82 appearances for the Diavolo, with plenty more chapters still to be written.
