Emelyne Laurent was born in Fort-de-France, capital of Martinique, on 4 November 1998. She began playing football on her island, at AS Samaritaine, before moving to France at 14 to play for Montpellier. Her first success came at Bordeaux, where she attracted the attention of Olympique Lyon. She spent five seasons at Lyon (winning the 2018 and 2022 Champions League), interspersed with loans to Guingamp, Bordeaux again and Atlético Madrid (her best loan came here, with 7 goals in 27 appearances in the 2020/21 season). She signed for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022, making 15 appearances on her way to a German league title before arriving in Milan. On the international stage, she made her senior debut at 19 against Australia in a friendly in 2018, following her rise through the ranks of the youth teams; she recorded notable performances at the U19 Euros in 2017 and the U20 World Cup in 2018. Her first international goal came on 1 December 2020 in a European qualifying match against Kazakhstan.
