Guðný Árnadóttir was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 4 August 2000 and started playing at the highest levels of women's football in her country at a very young age: she made her first appearance in the Icelandic Women's Football Cup for FH Hafnarfjarðar before she was 15. After four seasons, she switched teams, joining Valur. In her first season there, she became an Icelandic Champion. In December 2020, she signed for AC Milan, who immediately loaned her out to Napoli. Her stint at the Azzurre saw her play twelve times in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign. Having returned to the Rossonere, she made her debut against FC Zürich in the Champions League and has since made 45 appearances over the course of the two seasons. At international level, Árnadóttir first featured for her country in a friendly at the age of 18. Her first competitive match came in September 2020 during Iceland's successful Euro qualifying campaign.
