Born in Lyon on January 12, 1998, Julie Piga took up soccer at a very young age, following in her older brother's footsteps. She came through the youth system at Lyon, where she signed her first professional contract and made her Division 1 debut on May 21, 2016, in a magical season for Olympique that brought the league title, the Challenge de France and the Women's Champions League. She joined Grenoble in 2016/17, first on loan and then on a permanent deal. In January 2020 she returned to the French top flight with Fleury, where she spent three seasons, totaling 63 appearances and 7 goals. She arrived at AC Milan in the summer of 2023 and quickly became a cornerstone of the Rossonere back line, making 71 total appearances over three seasons, with two goals against Lazio and Sampdoria in 2024/25. At the same time, she rose through the French youth national teams from Under-16 to Under-23, highlighted by a run to the Semifinals at the 2018 U-20 World Cup. A naturalized Italian citizen, she received her first call-up to the Azzurre in July 2023 ahead of the 2023 World Cup and remained part of the squad on the road to the Euros: she earned her senior debut in a friendly against Malta in October 2024 and her first competitive cap in April 2025, against Sweden in the Nations League, before going on to play at EURO 2025.
