Kosovare Asllani, who is of Kosovar-Albanian descent, was born in Kristianstad, Sweden, on 29 July 1989. After a fantastic youth career, she joined Swedish top-flight side Linköping in 2007, winning the Swedish Cup in 2008 and a league and Super Cup double in 2009. In 2010, she headed to the US and, after spending a season at Chicago Red Stars, returned to Linköping the following campaign. In Sweden, she also wore the Kristianstads shirt in 2012 before signing for Paris Saint-Germain, where she bagged 39 goals in 59 matches over the course of four years. Her next move was to England, where, with Manchester City, she won the Women's Super League and FA Cup over a one-and-a-half-year period. Asllani then once again joined Linköping, who she helped win the Swedish top flight for the third time (her second league triumph in her home country) in the club's history. In July 2019, she put pen to paper on a deal with Tacon, who were then acquired by Real Madrid. She remained in Spain for three seasons (24 goals in 63 appearances) before arriving at AC Milan in the summer of 2022: her first year in Italy ended with her making 18 appearances and scoring ten times in Serie A and Coppa Italia. Furthermore, she's enjoyed a great international career, finishing as a runner-up at the Olympic Games in Rio (2016) and Tokyo (2020). She was also part of the Sweden squad that came third at the 2019 World Cup and, as team captain, also at the 2023 World Cup.
