Valentina Bergamaschi was born in Varese on 22 January 1997 and, once her football career began, immediately established herself as a promising young talent in Lombard football. However, her debut in a top-flight division arrived in Switzerland while wearing the Rapid Lugano shirt in 2014. In the same country, she enjoyed a brilliant season in 2016/17, helping Neunkirch achieve a domestic league and cup double with a 24-goal haul and finishing as the division's top scorer. She moved to Brescia in 2017 and bagged 16 goals in 23 appearances before signing for AC Milan in the summer of 2018, meaning she's been at the Club since its founding. Since joining the Rossonere, Bergamaschi has continued to grow performance-wise, and her best year was undoubtedly the 2021/22 campaign – the season she became team captain – as she scored ten times and provided five assists in 31 appearances. As of June 2023, Valentina has made 125 appearances – the highest number with Laura Fusetti - and scored 18 goals for AC Milan. Bergamaschi is also a key figure for Italy, too: she made her Azzurre debut in 2016, and, as of June 2023, has won 51 caps for her country and netted eight goals. She was part of Italy's 2019 World Cup and Euro 2022 squads, playing as a starter.
