A forward with a unique elegance, Van Basten joined AC Milan in summer 1987 along with Ruud Gullit. After scoring an impressive 152 goals for Ajax, with Milan he immediately won the league title. The ‘Swan of Utrecht’ scored goals in all possible ways with a striking consistency. In additions to the trophies lifted with the Club his tally of individual honours includes: 3 Ballon d’Or awards and 2 Serie A top scorer titles. Marco Van Basten gave his farewell to football in Milan in 1995 at only thirty-three years: he finished his career at AC Milan with 201 appearances and 125 goals.
