AC MILAN LOSE OPENER 0‑1

The International Champions Cup began with defeat for AC Milan. At Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, the Rossoneri played in front of 18,469 people. Fully in the swing of pre-season, the team showed some positive signs and had chances to score. Hernández played excellently before an injury to the right ankle forced him off. The team can and must improve further, especially physically and as a collective. On Wednesday, the Diavolo will leave Kansas City to return to Boston where Benfica will be the opponent on Sunday 28 July at 21:00 CEST or 15:00 local time.

MATCH REPORT
The game started with both sides going straight on the attack. In the fourth minute, Hernández forced Neuer into action before Biglia fired over from range. After the pace dropped off, Hernández crossed for Maldini in the 23rd minute but he was unable to hit the target. Milan improved in terms of how they managed the ball and began to pose more of an attacking threat. In the 33rd minute, Sanches hit the ball from the edge of the box but missed the target. Right at the end of the half, Bayern went ahead. Goretzka was set up by Kimmich and fired low to beat Donnarumma. In the 48th minute, Gigio got down low to deny Arp. In the 54th minute, Piatek had a sight of goal but his shot was inaccurate. The Rossoneri's best chance was in the 64th minute. Sule gave the ball away to Cutrone who went through alone against Ulreich but the goalkeeper won out in the one-on-one. Muller missed a header and chance to extend the lead in the 71st minute. The Diavolo remained in the game but without creating too many chances. In the 75th minute, Ulreich saved a powerful Calhanoglu strike. At the end, late Arp and Alaba goals were disallowed.
