In an exciting contest at San Siro, AC Milan were held to a 2-2 draw by Sassuolo. The standout performer was Davide Bartesaghi, who bagged a brace for Massimiliano Allegri's men. His double lit up the pitch and ignited the packed stands, as more than 73,000 Rossoneri supporters inside San Siro celebrated the first Serie A goals of the young defender, a product of AC Milan's youth sector.
Bartesaghi opened the scoring for AC Milan in the 34th minute, finishing clinically from a Loftus-Cheek assist. Davide was not done there, adding his second shortly after the restart (47'), this time set up by Nkunku, to momentarily put AC Milan in front. His eye for goal and constant attacking presence, combined with his quality in possession and ability to deliver from wide areas, caused problems for the opposition defence throughout the match.
It was a day when Davide proved himself a key figure for the team, with his performance driving AC Milan in a demanding contest. A couple of historical notes highlight the significance of his display: it was the youngest brace by a Rossoneri player in Serie A since September 2012 (El Shaarawy), and he also became the youngest defender to score for AC Milan in the league since February 1988 (Maldini).
By a huge margin - over 95% of the votes - Bartesaghi was named MVP by the fans on AC Milan's official App, ahead of Modrić, Rabiot, and Saelemaekers. It was yet another outstanding performance in what has been an excellent season for him, giving plenty of reason for optimism ahead of the upcoming matches. Well done, Davide - keep it up!
