The protagonists often change but the results remain the same. In recent years, the Rossoneri’s Under-15s have continually excelled. This was also the case last season, when they made it all the way to the National Final before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Roma. In keeping with tradition, the new U15 generation is doing well in the league once more.
The young Rossoneri currently sit in second place in Group B, just three points behind leaders Inter. Cagliari and Bologna, two dangerous sides, continue to give chase behind them. Coach Bertuzzo’s team are developing at a constant rate and have players with real substance in Casali, who is already setting athletic records, Benedetti, Piantedosi, Mangiameli, Zeroli, Tonon and Malaspina, with many being firm fixtures in the national team of their age group. There is both physical and technical talent.
Leading the team is Roberto Bertuzzo, who has long been involved in AC Milan’s Youth Sector having coached the Esordienti, Allievi and Berretti across 25 years. He was in the dugout when the Under-15s last won the Scudetto in 2010. On the pitch back then were players who would go on to become professionals, like Bryan Cristante and Andrea Petagna.
Many generations of talent have benefitted from his wisdom, and he’s already looking forward to seeing his side return to action once the league season resumes: “I miss the football pitch, Vismara and the lads, but it’s necessary for everyone to play their part. Our league is very competitive with many closely matched teams who still have the aim of making it to the play-offs. No game has been a foregone conclusion, but our group has had a very positive year and there’s been a noticeable improvement from all the lads.”
