A convincing and vital year of performances from AC Milan’s Primavera side, who climbed back up to the top flight after last year’s relegation. Coach Federico Giunti was able to rely on an attack who were dangerous, consistent, and more than anything full of goals. With 61 goals from their 19 games so far, the side has scored an average of more than three a game.
But it’s interesting to look at where these goals have come from: 42 have been scored by the team’s attackers, almost 69% of the full amount. Within the attack, there were five names who popped up almost constantly with the goods: Lorenzo Colombo, Luan Capanni, Riccardo Tonin, Daniel Maldini and Emanuele Pecorino, Federico Giunti's most lethal weapons up top.
The split of goals between these five was fairly even in the league: Colombo and Capanni lead the charts on nine goals each (the former having scored these in just six games), then Tonin on eight, and finally Maldini and Pecorino on seven, with one goal each for Haidara and Capone. All of these goalscorers stepped up when they were needed. In addition to these impressive numbers from the attack, the midfield certainly played their part too. Before being called up to the First Team, Marco Brescianini contributed six goals to the cause, all in the first half of the season.
Olzer hit five himself, Sala scored four and Frigerio and Mionic both chipped in with two goals each. Meanwhile, the Coppa Italia saw the only goals from any of our defenders as Merletti grabbed two against Sampdoria and Fiorentina. Moving to the Primavera TIM Cup, two more goals for Pecorino, two for Maldini, one for Brescianini and one more for Olzer.
