Many elements have helped create AC Milan Primavera’s success this season. Amongst the midfielders, Alessandro Sala was the big voice who’s considered a veteran of this squad. From the class of 2001 and born in Sesto San Giovanni, he made his debut at this level in April 2018 and has become a pillar of the U19 Rossoneri side ever since. A few months later, he also joined the U18 National Team, with whom he’s made seven appearances and scored two goals.
For Coach Giunti, Alessandro has been a player of great value, thanks to his attributes that allow him to contribute in different phases of the game. Great running, incisive passing, many goals as well as excellent tenacity in breaking up play: Sala is just the type of player who’s labelled as ‘box to box’.
In the unfortunate relegation season, he managed to register five goals and two assists, while this year, he was among the key players in the promotion success by contributing four goals and two assists. In doing this he took up the role of the ‘man for the big occasion’, because in big matches, the tricky moments, when you couldn’t slip up, he was always the man who produced the goods.
In the promotion match against SPAL he provided the assist for Colombo to make it 1-0 and then sealed the 3-0 win by scoring. And in November’s head-to-head against Hellas Verona, captain at the time, he scored a brace to open and close the scoring as well as providing an assist. What’s more, on the Saturday when AC Milan rose to the top of the table, he scored in the 3-1 away win in Brescia, and it was against them that he wore the captain’s armband, both in the first and second fixture. All this is evidence to show that when it comes to taking responsibility, Alessandro Sala always steps up. And, unsurprisingly, in August he renewed his contract with AC Milan through to 2023.
