After its postponement due to the pandemic in 2020, the Euros will be held in 2021. During the international break in November, the list of qualified teams for the tournament (11 June to 11 July 2021) was completed. Various AC Milan players are hoping to be a part of the competition. Some, injury notwithstanding, are practically certain to feature for their respective national teams. We're talking about, for example, Gianluigi Donnarumma, who's become a regular feature between the sticks for Italy.
Among others hoping to be a part of Mancini's 23-man squad are Davide Calabria, who recently made his debut for his country, Sandro Tonali and Alessio Romagnoli. The AC Milan captain had been out due to injury for three months and, as such, has found playing time hard to come by with the Azzurri. While Tonali could be call-up for the U21, who are also in action next summer, instead, as Coach Nicolato would love to have him and first team playing time this season looks to be somewhat limited. Matteo Gabbia almost a shoo-in to feature for them. In Group A alongside Italy are Hakan Çalhanoğlu's Turkey - Hakan is a key figure of Şenol Güneş' side.
In Group B, meanwhile, two more Rossoneri could face each other. Simon Kjær is the captain of Denmark, who will take on Saelemaekers' Belgium. Alexis received his first call-ups to the Belgium side between October and November, due in no small part to the consistent growth of his performances with the Rossoneri. It is plausible, therefore, that he might be named in Roberto Martínez's squad. In Group D - alongside Scotland, England the Czech Republic - are Croatia, the runners-up at the 2018 World Cup. Ante Rebić, once fully recovered from his elbow injury, will surely return to take his place in the Kockasti's attack.
Rossoneri involvement in Group F, which includes France and Portugal is very much up in the air. Neither Hernández nor Leão have been called up to their respective first teams, but they both hope to be able to convince Deschamps and Santos over the coming months. Rafa, along with Diogo Dalot, will more than likely feature for the U21's at their respective tournament next summer, in which Brahim Díaz will take part for Spain.
