February is the shortest month, though it looks a little different for the AC Milan Primavera this season, who will play six league games in the space of three weeks. This packed schedule has been brought about by the prolonged break due to COVID-19 and the resulting necessity to accelerate the season. The month has already begun, and not exactly in the best way possible after the lads were knocked about of the Coppa Italia. They now need to get back on track as soon as possible.
They won't be lacking for opportunities either, starting with today's (13:00 CET) game against Sassuolo at Vismara in the rescheduled matchday five fixture. Sassuolo are in a rich vein of form and currently sit in third in the table, having drawn against both Atalanta and Lazio with a man down. A confident AC Milan side awaits them; the Rossoneri have won two of their three league games since the restart. In any case, the verdict given on the pitch will need to be laid down straight away because, coming up, they face Bologna (away), Empoli, Inter, Sampdoria (away) and Ascoli, all in a short space of time.
The Primavera have recorded a fairly curious stat: they either score and don't concede, or they concede and don't score: 1-0 win against Cagliari, 1-0 loss to Atalanta, 1-0 loss to Juve in Turin, 3-0 win over Lazio, 2-0 loss to Torino, 2-0 win over SPAL. And here is another important stat, given its totally polar nature: AC Milan have the best defence in the league (four goals conceded) but the second-worst attack (six goals scored) after Ascoli.
So there are plenty of motives for reflection, hard work and growth as a team. Coach Giunti's lads are willful and hungry, looking solid in fifth (one point off the playoffs) and ready to take on a packed month of February without fear.
