After a four-month hiatus it was inevitable that there would be a complicated restart. Going from mid-October to the end of February without any league action is taking away a habit of the U18s. The young Rossoneri returned to training in December and, apart from a couple of test matches, they have not played for a truly long time. It’s normal, therefore, to not be at 100% in this new beginning.
The calendar also got in the way and complicated plans: after the 'first' match on 28 February, a good 0-0 draw at home to Atalanta, the team rested during the penultimate weekend (as they will all do twice between home and away, as eleven teams participate in the single-group competition). One more obstacle in quickly regaining match practice. An uphill journey, but the best will come.
Last Sunday Coach Terni’s boys were surprised by Monza: The team from Brianza won 3-1 at their home ground (the AC Milan goal coming from Angelini), during which however positive signals were there to see. The collective performance will have to improve, and it certainly will improve when returning to various grounds. Opportunities to turn things around will not be lacking, starting with the weekly work in training.
It’s not important right now to look at the position in the table, of which the most important and most useful aspects must be read. It says that so far this season, the U18s have not yet won, scoring three goals in four days: numbers to improve upon, starting from this coming Sunday when Sassuolo arrive to Vismara at 18.00 CET. The group has quality and are united, now it's time to prove it.
