AN IMPORTANT REACTION TO GET BACK ON TRACK

The Rossoneri returned to winning ways in Serie A, staying in the thick of the Champions League fight

Such a start to 2022 wasn't easy, nor was it a given. After losing the Supercoppa Final late in the second half, with only ten men, the Rossonere found their feet once again. A 6-0 win over Verona, a result that means Mister Ganz's team remain in the race for the top two spots in the standings, which would mean qualification for the Women's Champions League.

The market has led to some changes in the squad but the reaction was a strong one, starting with the Supercoppa semi-final against Roma. A performance where the girls showed heart, spirit and courage. A victory that gave confidence and brought the Rossonere a step closer to their first trophy.

2022 has seen Linda Tucceri Cimini thrust into the limelight, having scored 1 goal and provided 3 assists in the space of three games. Miriam Longo has also had the chance to play more minutes this year and she is taking full advantage of this, with goals and some very impressive showings so far. Sara Thrige Andersen has discovered some of her best form this year, with 3 assists just against Verona and we have also seen the rich vein of form that Valentina Bergamaschi has found herself in, with 2 goals in 3 games.

The Rossonere have also welcomed two newcomers this year: Alia Guagni and Martina Piemonte, who have been exemplary in their immediate acclimatisation to their new Rossonere set-up, with self-sacrifice and team spirit. The calendar now sees the Rossonere come up against Sampdoria next, then Lazio, before facing Sampdoria again in the Coppa Italia and finally at the end of February a clash with Sassuolo. With the character shown thus far, anything is possible for these girls.
