Four consecutive weekends. Six, if you also consider the first weekend of April and the 0-0 draw away to Sassuolo on the Saturday just gone. It’s the most intense part of the season for AC Milan Women, who, for the first time this campaign, will play a match every weekend within a single month – in this case, March. This is something that will be a lot more common next season, when there will be 28 matchdays as opposed to the 22 that Serie A has now.
A tricky match against Napoli awaits on Sunday – a day when the men’s first team and Coach Giunti’s Primavera will also come up against the Partenopei. Then, it’ll be time for the Rossonere to play the highly anticipated first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final showdown against Juventus the following weekend.
There won’t be any time to rest once that game is over, however, with a crucial match in the race for the Champions League scheduled: Roma v AC Milan, two months on from the Rossonere’s semi-final victory over the Giallorosse in the Supercup. AC Milan are currently five points adrift of Roma, who, next weekend, will travel to face a Juventus side that were beaten by Empoli on Sunday.
The last match of the month will also be a challenging one, with Fiorentina set to visit Vismara. The Viola are surprisingly near the foot of the table but emerged victorious the last time they took on the Rossonere away from home. After the full-time whistle in that fixture, Coach Ganz’s girls can take stock of their situation heading into the final stretch of the season. But before that, an unmissable month awaits, and the Rossonere will have to be at the top of their game.
