After three consecutive defeats against Roma, Atalanta and Napoli between the end of February and the beginning of March, Coach Giunti’s team put an end to their losing run by beating Lecce at Vismara. Then came another setback, against Fiorentina, a win against Verona and the recent loss to Juventus at Vinovo. It’s been an inconsistent period for the team, then, which has also led to them losing ground in the race for the play-offs.
April hasn’t begun in the best way, but many matches await as the Diavolo look to get back on track. Sixth position – the final play-off spot – is currently occupied by Atalanta, who sit six points ahead of AC Milan and also have the head-to-head advantage. Irrespective of this, however, the objective is to give everything without making any calculations in the next few games.
Cagliari, SPAL, Sampdoria, Pescara, Bologna, Empoli: these are the Rossoneri’s remaining opponents this month. Without focusing too much on the table, AC Milan need to try to find consistency in their performances in order to string together a run of victories. The aim is to return to how they were playing in January and February, get Nasti back scoring and Chaka Traorè bursting forward, and see certain players born in 2004 – like Alesi and Gala – producing really bold displays again.
Beyond the team’s objectives, AC Milan at their best will be required in order to finish a season that started poorly well and really prove that there’s been growth both individually and collectively. There’s still time to do all this.
