55 points thanks to 17 victories, four draws and just a single defeat, a tally which saw the team finish second in the Group 1 standings. These are numbers behind AC Milan Women's Primavera's first-ever season, but it's still not over. The best bit is just around the corner for Davide Corti's side: the finals.
A two-legged quarter-final against Sassuolo, who finished third in Group 2, now awaits. If the Rossonere progress, they'll be involved in the Final Four, at which point straight knockout ties will be played to determine the Scudetto winner. Matches begin on the weekend of 28/29 May, with the second-leg games set to take place the following week. Given the fact they finished in a higher position during the regular season, AC Milan will be the home team in the return fixture.
An important moment is on the horizon for a group that has enjoyed a very positive season and learnt a lot in the process. They also did particularly well in the Viareggio Cup. Indeed, in their first-ever involvement in the tournament, they reached the final before narrowly losing out to Danish side Brøndby. This is a very young Rossonere team consisting of various players born in 2004 and 2005, some of whom have climbed the youth ranks from the Pulcine (U10s).
Furthermore, there are four players who have very much been on the first-team radar: Cortesi, Kirschstein, Miotto and Selimhodzic. Having scored five goals in the last two matches, the latter is in excellent form. The hope is that the Rossonere can continue their fantastic performances in order to round off an already exceptional debut season in the best possible manner.
