A home draw with Fiorentina and a convincing 5-0 away win to Hellas Verona has given the Women's Primavera side a good start to the season in only their second-ever season. The young Rossonere side come into this year after a successful debut year where they reached the Final Four Scudetto last June, and have renewed hope for another good season ahead.
The most important, and encouraging, thing for the group is that the nucleus of players from last season have remained. Many are from the year groups 2004 and 2005, that is perfectly in line with the rules of the league, and who are ready to play a starring role also this season. One of those players is captain Monica Renzotti, who got the Rossonere's first-ever official goal last year.
With the group is looking to carry on where they left off, with the integration of some players from the 2021/22 Scudetto-winning Under-17 side (2005 and 2006 year groups), it is the league itself that has changed rather dramatically. The two regional division system has been replaced by Primavera 1 and Primavera 2 - following the lead of the Men's league - that sees both promotion and relegation introduced.
In the top flight, there are twelve teams represented with some famous names in their standing out: Juventus, Inter, Roma and Fiorentina, as well as some familiar Women's team sides, such as: Sassuolo, Tavagnacco and Hellas Verona, who were beaten by AC Milan on the last matchday. The Rossonere are back in action on the weekend of 15/16 October for their first big match of the season, away to Juventus.
