PLAYER PROFILE: VALENTINA BERGAMASCHI

Valentina Bergamaschi has been at AC Milan since AC Milan's Women's team was founded, in the 2018/19 season. She has been involved in their biggest moments, the victories and achievements that have formed the side that are preparing for their sixth season. The Italian player's story speaks of a natural predisposition for sacrifice, running, and climbing to reach the top. Football is her passion, but it has also been needed to fight a particular problem that hit her when she was young.

For the Rossonere, she has continuously progressed up the ladder, starting late due to a serious knee injury. She soon became a vital member of the group, both on and off the pitch. The transfer window has always seen lots of changes to the squad, first when Coach Morace was in charge and now with Coach Ganz, but Valentina has always remained a constant. She has changed roles, playing on the right and left flanks, as a full-back or winger, but never Clubs.

In the normal highs and lows of any career, you won't find a "lazy" performance from Bergamaschi. Tenacious, a great engine, availability, athleticism and technical skill, experience: in a word, a guarantee. Since January 2022, she has notably made a big step up, becoming Club captain. It's an extra responsibility that has made her proud and mature. Her sixth year as an AC Milan player has just got underway, bringing with her a few records: most number of appearances (125, the same as Fusetti) and the most number of goals scored (18) currently in the squad.

Now, she has the job of leading her teammates to the official opening game of the new season, AC Milan v Roma, which promises much.
