Off we go! So starts Serie C and the adventure for Milan Futuro who begin their campaign at the Stadio Comunale in Chiavari. Our opening-day opponent is Virtus Entella, one of the most experienced sides in the league, often competing for a spot in Serie B. The Rossoneri come to their league debut in the best shape possible after a great start to the Coppa Italia: the wins away from home over Lecco and Novara, two big sides in terms of achievements and potential in the division, secured us a spot in the Round of 16 (knockout clash away to Torres at the end of November). The Ligurians come from a 2023/24 campaign where they narrowly missed out on a spot in the play-offs, Virtus Entella finished the season in 12th on 45 points and arrive at the league opener after a bittersweet spell in the Coppa Italia. After the 2-0 win over Alcione in the first game, Fabio Gallo's side suffered a narrow (1-0) defeat away to Giana Erminio. It should be noted that they also registered a positive pre-season result against Carrarese (0-0) for the side who have lost midfielder Petermann (4 goals in 37 games, now at Latina) but added defender Marconi, an ex-Palermo player who has already scored his debut goal in the Coppa Italia. During the week, the Biancocelesti were preparing for the clash with the Rossoneri with a training session alongside Serie D side, Ligorna.
"We have prepared well to face a side that little is known about, but is full of talent", said Coach Gallo on the eve of the game. "We know some individual Milan Futuro players, but we have only seen 180 minutes and there will be the need to adapt in light of what those two games have shown. I think it will be an open game: second sides, in my experience, are never reluctant to play. We are aware that Milan Futuro has a strong appeal, but we have to act in a way that ensures an even bigger one for Entella".

Matchday 1 in Group B of Serie C will take place across four days. On Friday 23 August: SPAL 2-2 Ascoli, Pineto 0-0 Lucchese and Ternana 1-2 Pescara. Saturday 24 was the turn of Legnago 2-3 Pontedera and Pianese 3-3 Perugia. On Sunday 25, aside from Virtus Entella v Milan Futuro: Gubbio v Sestri Levante (18:00 CEST) and Arezzo v Campobasso (20:45 CEST). Two games on Monday 26: Carpi v Rimini and Torres v Vis Pesaro, both at 20:45 CEST.
