SPAL v MILAN FUTURO: MATCH PREVIEW

Final kilometre, the decisive one. Milan Futuro's season will come to an end in Ferrara, at the Paolo Mazza for the second leg of the Serie C Playout against SPAL. The Rossoneri will have two out of three results available in their favour to secure their safety, while the Estensi will fight in front of their fans to stay in the league. 90 crucial minutes, which we introduce with our Match Preview:

It's not the first time that a season for the Rossoneri is ending in Ferrara, and the last memory is not exactly a positive one. In 2019, however, it was a win for AC Milan and - thanks to the incredibly precious win in Solbiate Arno - to confirm our spot in Serie C, a draw is all that it is needed. The display from Coach Oddo's side in the first leg gives reason for optimism, especially thanks to the quality of play shown and the personality shown in a tense and at times nervous match, as expected given what was at stake. It will be a true sporting battle at the Mazza, where we will take to the field with the same players and determination as the first leg to finish the job and achieve our goal.

Comeback operation for the Estensi, who need to win to avoid relegation to Serie D, with their last relegation to that league coming in the 2012/13 season. A win against the Rossoneri has evaded them in the last three seasonal meetings, with all the matches won by Milan Futuro: the fourth clash this season will be important for another reason because it will be played in front of the largest crowd ever at the Paolo Mazza. There could be a potential 10,000 fans, more than the highest number this season (6,720 against Ascoli on the first day of the season). Baldini will need to rely on the same players in the first leg, with lots of people to choose from, especially in attack: in Solbiate Arno, they played with a front three of Molina through the middle. In Ferrara there could be more space for the captain Antenucci, or for the Icelandic international Karlsson. 

"It's a make-or-break game, no beating around the bush," said Mirco Antenucci. "It's been an intense week, but I see the right spirit in the boys. Our objective is clear, and there's no need for too many words: we have to run more than them, be more focused and display more ruthlessness on the pitch. Last Saturday, we lacked courage and, at times, fell short in terms of game management. We need to improve on that but, above all, have the right mindset: the match will last more than 90 minutes, and it must be played with intensity and composure from start to finish."

LATEST FROM SERIE C
Claudio Giuseppe Allegretta, from the Molfetta section, will be the referee for the match at the Mazza. It's his first time in charge of a game between these sides this season. The linesmen will be Santarossa (Pordenone) and Cesarano (Castellammare di Stabia), the fourth official Andeng Tona Mbei (Cuneo), VAR Nasca (Bari) and AVAR Marotta (Sapri). 

Game on Saturday 17 May at 20:00 CEST with both of the Playout's for Group B in the Serie C: SPAL v Milan Futuro (0-1 in the first leg) and Lucchese v Sestri Levante (1-2). At 20.00 CEST Group A games will take place, including Triestina v Caldiero Terme (0-0 in the first 90'), preceded at 15.00 by Foggia v Messina (0-0) in Group C and then in Group A, Pro Vercelli v Pro Patria (0-1) at 17.30. In the event of a draw over the total 180 minutes, the team with the better league position, the one playing the second leg at home, will secure safety.
