The Rossoneri are enjoying a strong spell, perhaps their best since late September, when they strung together results against ChievoVerona (3–2), Casatese Merate (0–0) and Scanzorosciate (3–0). Setting aside their Coppa Italia exit, Oddo’s side are in fine form, coming off back-to-back league wins over Folgore Caratese (3–2) and Oltrepò (2–1), sealed by goals from Victor and Sia. Milan Futuro currently sit fourth on 17 points, firmly in the playoff zone. This fixture is an opportunity not to be missed.

Sondrio’s struggles continue. Their season has started poorly and shows little sign of improving: just one point so far (earned against Pavia in mid-October) and nine defeats, including the recent 2–4 home loss to Casatese Merate, despite goals from Marras (penalty) and Longo. The Biancazzurri sit bottom of the table with a -22 goal difference. At the helm is former Rossoneri goalkeeper Marco Amelia, facing a tough task but eager to spark a reaction.

"It's a very difficult match that will certainly cause us some problems," Marco Amelia said on the eve of the match. "We'll have to be good on defence and avoid certain silly errors that have cost us dearly in recent games. This week, I've seen the boys focused and eager to put in a good performance."
