MILAN FUTURO BEATEN 1-0 BY VARESINA

The Rossoneri pushed hard, but Baud's goal decides it at the Chinetti

Serie D matchday 32 ended in defeat for Milan Futuro, who were beaten 1-0 by Varesina and missed the chance to wrap up a play-off spot. A great goal by Baud in the final quarter of an hour decided it at the Chinetti. It was an undeserved result for Oddo's side, who created plenty of chances and deserved a better outcome against a tough opponent, having already won this season in Solbiate Arno in the Coppa Italia who are in strong away form with 24 of their 34 points won on the road.

While Varesina make important progress in the Playout race, we remain in fifth place and in control as we push for a Playoff spot, two points clear of Brusaporto and three ahead of Villa Valle with just 180 minutes of the regular season left to play. The standings today confirm Folgore Caratese's promotion. We have a chance to bounce back on Sunday 26 at 15:00 CEST, away to Castellanzese and put today’s unlucky afternoon behind us. Come on!

MATCH REPORT
The Rossoneri, wearing their Third Kit, started strong and determined constantly pushing forward. In the 4th minute, Cappelletti's shot was blocked and nothing came from the corner that followed. Traorè had a chance from a free kick in the 8th minute but it went over Maddalon's crossbar. Sardo got a shot away inside the box, after an attacking move in the 10th minute, but the opponents cleared. The tempo slowed down in the following minutes after injuries for both teams. The next chance came in the 39th minute when Traorè got into space and shot with his left but it was off-target. Chaka tried to curl the ball in but it went wide of the top corner. In stoppage time, Cappelletti broke away and came close as his shot skimmed the right post.

Oddo's side began the second half with no changes, and Varesina came out more determined after the break. In the 57th minute Costantino made a threatening run, forcing Torriani to come off his line. On the counter, Cappelletti had a go but his shot went wide. Manicone had a big chance in the 68th minute with a volley that tested our keeper. We responded in the 70th minute with a low shot from the edge of the box by captain Sala, but Maddalon managed to keep it out. Out of nowhere, the visitors took the lead in the 77th minute through a powerful strike from Baud. Torriani managed to get a touch but couldn't stop it. We continued to push forward looking for the equaliser. In the 83rd minute Maddalon made a brilliant save to deny Domniței the equaliser from a free kick. The visitors nearly doubled their lead a minute later through Baud again. The final stages of the game were tense. At the beginning of stoppage time Domniței tried again from a free kick, and in the 90+6' Branca did everything right but was unable to convert.
