On matchday two of Group B of Serie D, Palazzolo 2-0 Milan Futuro saw the hosts claim all three points thanks to two goals in quick succession in the first half, scored by Nespoli and Persano. The double blow made for a difficult afternoon for the Rossoneri, who were forced to chase the game. There was a positive reaction after the break, with the substitutes adding energy to the play and helping to create chances, but the scoreline remained unchanged throughout the second 45 minutes.
A disappointing result, but an afternoon from which positive lessons can be taken as the team continues its day-to-day development work at Milanello powered by Clivet. That is particularly important with a new week ahead featuring two fixtures: on Wednesday kick-off at 18:00 CEST the midweek round against Brusaporto at the Chinetti, followed by another away trip to face Villa Valle on Sunday at 15:00. It was also Navarro’s side’s first official match in the Third Kit, just as it was for the Men’s First Team, and the Rossoneri made an excellent start. However, they failed to make the most of their positive opening and, in the 17th minute, the hosts took the lead: following a cross from the wing, Nespoli made a well-timed run to get on the end of it and beat Pittarella. Milan Futuro tried to respond, but six minutes later, in the 23rd minute, Palazzolo doubled their lead, with Persano converting Mattioli’s cross. In the 26th minute, Franceschinis also hit the post when one-on-one with Pittarella. Having weathered the difficult spell, the Rossoneri began to threaten going forward again, with Ossola shooting from the edge of the box in the 32nd minute, but the ball went narrowly over.
The Rossoneri tried to move the ball with greater purpose at the start of the second half, but the first chance after the break fell to the hosts: in the 58th minute, Persano fired wide from a good position following a cross from the right. Milan Futuro’s response came mainly through substitute Asanji, first with a shot from the edge of the box in the 60th minute that went over, and then with a header in the 62nd minute that was not directed accurately enough. Navarro’s side continued to dominate possession and build play, but without managing to create any noteworthy chances. They finished strongly, with Ossola meeting Borsani’s cross with a header in the 85th minute, but the ball went narrowly over. Then, in the 87th minute, Lorenzo again forced Ilic into an excellent save with his left foot from the edge of the box. Pandolfi also had a go during the five minutes of added time, but the scoreline remained unchanged: the match finished 2-0.
