During the press conference to present Marco Giampaolo at Casa Milan, Paolo Maldini also spoke. Here was what he had to say.
APPOINTING GIAMPAOLO
"I'll always be grateful to Leonardo. Zvonimir and Massara's aim is to make the team competitive in the shortest time possible. The decision on Giampaolo was one shared by all, both the Club and on the sporting side of things. The transfer window? It's long, there are priorities which the Coach has indicated to us."
THE AIM
"We were only a point away from qualifying for the Champions League. The aim is to improve on last season's finish and quickly return to the top.”
DONNARUMMA
"He's an AC Milan player and the aim is to keep him here for a long time. This is the first thing that comes to mind at this moment."
THE FANS
"The fans were always close to the team last season, they understood that it was a historic moment for Milan. You can feel their love, our aim is to move from an average attendance of 50,000 at San Siro to 60,000."
The new Sporting Director Frederic Massara also discussed Giampaolo's appointment. "A lot of years have gone by but it's nice to see Marco again and at Milan. He was already a coach when he was on the pitch, it will be great to work together and bring this Club back onto the European stage."
