ALLEGRI: "IN TURIN TO KEEP IMPROVING"

The Coach's thoughts from Milanello ahead of Torino v AC Milan

Following their two matches against Lazio, the Rossoneri are preparing to face the ever-challenging Torino in an away fixture. On the eve of the game against the Granata, Massimiliano Allegri held a press conference, here's what he had to say:

IN TURIN
"We need to be ready to play a solid game because there are some numbers to turn around: in our last ten matches here, we've drawn six times, suffered five defeats and won just once. In the past three years in Turin, we’ve lost on all three occasions. We have to face them with humility and the right mindset and focus, because they’re a physical and technical side."

PROGRESS
"I'm not 100% satisfied yet, but we all need to feel that way: it's the only way to stay motivated to keep improving. Every day, we must be determined to get better. We need to aim for the maximum and believe that anything is possible. We started as a group, and gradually we're becoming a true team. Even those who play less must have the right mindset to give everything when called upon."

STRIKERS
"In my entire career, I've had only one true centre-forward: Higuaín. Mandžukić, Ibra, Robinho and Pato were all better at setting others up to score. The most important thing is to score goals. Midfielders and defenders can chip in too; everyone is needed. I’m satisfied with Nkunku because he's always involved in the game, and I'm convinced he's a dangerous player who can do a lot. For Gimenez, settling in hasn't been easy, but he's a striker who's always scored. I hope he can start training with the group again this week."

MIDFIELD GOALS
"We started well with Loftus-Cheek, but then we lost momentum. The goals will come because it's in their nature. We can definitely do more from set-pieces. Rabiot is improving his fitness, and goals will come from him, just like they will from Ruben. Both need to be confident in their abilities. Fofana is a high-intensity player, always involved in key moments, like in the games against Lazio and Napoli. Given his potential, he must have the ambition to do more, score more goals and contribute more in defence."

INJURY UPDATE
"We hope to have Gimenez back as soon as possible because we need him, both on a technical level and numerically, up front. Pulisic had a fever last night and we're monitoring him. Athekame is recovering. We hope Fofana will be ready for Sassuolo or the Supercoppa."

THE LEAGUE
"Inter and Napoli remain the best-equipped teams to win the league. Right now, there are many teams close together in points, but eventually the table will start to stretch out. You need around 74–76 points to qualify for the Champions League, while the Scudetto will depend on the winning streaks of the teams at the top. We are now at the stage of the season - from now until the end of January - when the table will start to take shape. We need to try to maintain a top-four position. Our ambition must be at its highest, but the objective is clear: AC Milan must qualify for next season's Champions League."
