    Serie AMay 17th 2026

A great win at a difficult place to visit in what was a direct match-up in the race for Champions League football. AC Milan won on matchday 24 in Serie A and did so in style. The 3-1 win in Bergamo was another positive display at the start of 2019 as the team shows its maturity, with the January signings Paquetá and Piatek becoming key players for Gennaro Gattuso. With a brace tonight, the Pole moved up to six goals in just five matches for the Rossoneri. Scoring goals with his right foot, left foot and head, Krzysztof is showing his full repertoire while firing his teammates up. Paquetá also put in a positive display, as did Calhanoglu who scored his first goal of the season at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri. There were a lot of positives for Gattuso and the three points consolidate fourth spot, with Milan now just one point behind Inter in third.

     MATCH REPORT

Gattuso stuck with the starting XI from the Roma and Cagliari games but Atalanta started the game strongly. In the fourth minute, there was the first sight of goal when Djimsiti headed just over. Soon after, Kessie had chances to break the deadlock. First, he fired wide with his right before heading just off target with Berisha beaten. In the 33rd minute, the home side took the lead. Ilicic got past Rodriguez and cut the ball back for the oncoming Freuler who beat Donnarumma. Milan were shaken but hung on and in the 46th minute, Piatek turned home a Rodriguez cross with a magnificent acrobatic finish to equalise. That was the key moment of the match and in the 55th minute, Calhanoglu built upon it with a rocket from outside the box to make it 2-1 for the Rossoneri. Just six minutes later, the Turk delivered a cross from the left that Piatek headed home to extend the lead. At 3-1, there was more space but Paquetá and Cutrone were unable to capitalise and find the net. It didn't matter though when Pasqua blew the final whistle and Milan had won 3-1.
