AC Milan claimed a vital win on matchday 27 in Serie A. The 2-1 away win at Chievo makes it five in a row for the Diavolo. The result sees the side consolidate third with a four-point lead over Inter before they play SPAL on Sunday. A magnificent Lucas Biglia free kick and yet another Krzysztof Piatek goal were enough at the Stadio Benteegodi to secure the win. The Pole moves up to 19 goals this season and is top of the scoring charts. In addition to the two goalscorers, there were a number of positive notes. Biglia bossed the midfield, intelligently managing possession. After a slow start, Piatek came into the game as it went on, scoring with his only shot on Sorrentino's goal. The defence did well to limit chances against. Castillejo showed improvement, displaying quality while covering a lot of ground. It was the same story for Calhanoglu who added substance off the bench. There were a number of positives for Gennaro Gattuso to take as Milan go into the week of the derby with more self-belief and confidence.

MATCH REPORT
The hosts started in an aggressive fashion with Milan forced to move the ball in the face of constant pressure from Di Carlo's team. The first chance for the Rossoneri came in the 15th minute when Kessie was in a good spot inside the box but his shot went wide. In the 31st minute, a magnificent strike from Biglia broke the deadlock. From 20 metres out, Lucas picked out the top corner with Sorrentino left rooted to the spot. Ten minutes later, Chievo responded with a Hetemaj header beating Gigio Donnarumma to make it 1-1. After the break, the Diavolo enjoyed more possession and took the lead again in the 57th minute. Calhanoglu played in the cross for Castillejo to knock down and Piatek was able to turn it home. After the goal, there was more space with Romagnoli almost extending the lead at the end with an effort that went just wide before Pairetto blew the whistle.
