It always hurts to lose a Derby, and it hurts even more when it's lost after a game like that. There were five goals in an extraordinary match which Inter eventually won 3-2. The performance wasn't sufficient to get any points on the board, with the heart shown in the second half not being enough to rescue anything out of the game following an ineffective first-half display. Despite having opportunities to get a draw out of it, the Rossoneri found themselves behind early on and were always chasing it. In the end Bakayoko's header to make it 1-2 and Musacchio's finish to bring the score to 2-3 only served to reduce the arrears. AC Milan didn't have their best day at San Siro as they committed mistakes at the back and lacked inspiration up front. There was a lot of pressure and high expectations going into the match, and this is not the result we wanted. After this matchday 28 clash in Serie A, Coach Gattuso's side have been overtaken by the Nerazzurri in the league table and now sit in fourth place. Despite the defeat, AC Milan are still in the Champions League places and have a four-point lead over fifth-placed Roma.

MATCH REPORT
It was a disastrous start for the Rossoneri as Inter took the lead in the third minute, with Vecino finding the back of the net following Lautaro's knockdown. AC Milan looked to respond through Paquetà, but the Brazilian's left-footed shot from distance was kept out by Handanovic. In the 17th minute, Vecino threatened once again, but Donnarumma eventually brought the chaos in the box to an end. In the 24th minute, Calhanoglu's fierce strike was saved by Handanovic. On the half-hour mark, Vecino fired off target when well-placed following Perisic's low ball across the box. After 41 minutes, Skriniar's free header in the box went wide after Brozovic picked him out from a corner.
Inter began the second half brightly and doubled their lead as De Vrij planted a header out of Donnarumma's reach and into the back of the net in the 51st minute following Politano's cross. AC Milan needed a response and got one through Bakayoko, who headed in Calhanoglu's floated free kick after 57 minutes. But just as the Rossoneri were looking to build up a head of steam, Inter got their third: Politano went down under Castillejo's challenge in the box and Martinez stepped up to score the resulting penalty. Things only became more emotional and frantic as the Rossoneri hit back almost immediately through Musacchio's powerful tap-in in the 71st minute. As the match drew to a close, both Castillejo and Cutrone had chances to draw the Diavolo level, but it wasn’t to be. Inter are now ahead of the Rossoneri in the league, but AC Milan are still in the Champions League places and have a four-point lead over fifth-placed Roma.
